About panohiohoperide

The American Cancer Society Pan Ohio Hope Ride (pohr.org) is a ACS DetermiNation endurance fundraising event held annually in July. Hundreds of cyclists join the ride each year for a fully supported bicycle tour of Ohio traversing 328+ miles between Cleveland and Cincinnati. While participants join for the ride, they stay for the fight, supporting the mission to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.

Join us at 10am on Tuesday, May 7, for a ride to kick off Ohio Cancer Action Day

Join for the ride. Stay for the fight! Help end cancer as we know it, for everyone!

PAN OHIO SHOUT OUT TO 2024 Dynamo Linda S. Mojzer!

Visit the “Fundraising Page” on pohr.org to learn more about our recognition levels and benefits.

Congratulations, Linda Spitler Mojzer, on becoming a 2024 Pan Ohio Hope Ride Dynamo by raising more than $5,000 so far this year to help support the Cleveland Hope Lodge.

The matriarch of Team Vaco | T-Cetra | OhioX, she is a Dynamo in more ways than one. Linda was one of the small group of riders who took part in the inaugural hope ride in 2007, and she has not missed a Pan Ohio mile since. Through many of life’s ups and downs, Linda has returned as a rider and fundraiser – drawn back by the people and the mission.

The past two years have been especially difficult. Last year Linda lost her mom, Viola Spitler, and this year she lost her husband of 42 years. Mike Mojzer faced two life-threatening events and a serious illness over the past 18 months prior to his passing. During that time, he was hospitalized for five weeks at the Cleveland Clinic, nearly 150 miles from their home in Dublin. Linda had the support of family and friends as well as the means to secure a local AirBnB, which made it possible for her to stay in Cleveland.

Recognizing that many people might not be able to afford to spend an extended time away from home when a loved one is facing a life-threatening illness has given Linda an even greater appreciation for the Hope Lodge program. Viola and Mike were two of her biggest supporters, encouraging her to keep riding, even in years when she wasn’t sure she was up to it. So, it is in their memories that Linda chose to make a bigger impact in 2024 by making a personal donation to earn her Dynamo status.

Linda is grateful to both her team and her Pan Ohio Family, who have been incredibly supportive through these hardships. And we are so thankful for and to you, Linda, for your dedication to the cause.

Thank you for joining the ride, staying for the fight, and giving as well as raising money to end cancer as we know it, for everyone!

National Volunteer Week: April 21-27, 2024

The Pan Ohio Hope Ride would NOT be possible without the myriad of volunteers and volunteer fundraisers who make it a safe, fun, meaningful, and successful event aimed at helping fund the incredible patient services provided by the Cleveland Hope Lodge.

We want each and every one of you to know how much you mean to us and how appreciative we are to you for all the tasks you take on and roles you play.

THANK YOU for being kind, generous, and passionate in supporting our cause, riders, and event.

PAN OHIO SHOUT OUT to new Dynamo Andy Jones

Visit the “Fundraising Page” on pohr.org to learn more about our recognition levels and benefits.

Congratulations, Andy Jones, a member of team AGENTS of HOPE, on joining the 2024 Pan Ohio Hope Ride Dynamo club. Andy has raised more than $5,000 so far this year to help support the Cleveland Hope Lodge.

Andy is a long-time Hope Rider and frequent Pan Ohio Dynamo, who rides and raises money to honor and remember his mother, Doris Ann, who lost her fight against cancer at 59. He also rides for members of his extended family and circle of friends who have been affected by cancer “…most surviving, some sadly not.”

“The ride…is…very, very special to me. It is the highlight of my summer, every, single, year,” says Andy. “It is a time of great reflection for my mother. I think of her more as a result of participating and being a team captain…and, it is a time of great brother-and-sisterhood, when our team comes together in common cause. I get goose bumps just thinking and talking about it.”

We are so grateful that you come back year after year, Andy. Thank you for all you do and the money you raise to help end cancer as we know it, for everyone

Pan Ohio Participants: Join ACS CAN for Ohio Cancer Action Day on May 7, 2024

American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Ohio – ACS CAN is asking Pan Ohio Hope Ride participants to attend Ohio Cancer Action Day on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and hopes we’ll bring our bikes in a show of support for the Cleveland Hope Lodge!

Join with other cancer advocates, survivors, and caregivers from across the state to speak with Ohio lawmakers about making the fight against cancer a top priority. Ohio Cancer Action Day provides an opportunity for you to share your cancer story, ask lawmakers to improve Ohioans’ access to cancer care through biomarker testing and copay accumulator legislation, and rally support for a request of $170,000 from the capital budget for structural updates to the Cleveland Hope Lodge.

Pan Ohio cyclists are invited to gather (time/location details pending) for a short group ride to the Statehouse around 10am for an ACS CAN capital budget press conference. Even if you can’t join for the full day and speak with your legislators, you can make a statement just by riding your bicycle to the Statehouse steps.

Keep an eye on our social media for more Ohio Cancer Action Day details, including ways to get involved even if you can’t join us in person!

Proceeds from the Pan Ohio Hope Ride support the Cleveland Hope Lodge, and every day the Cleveland Hope Lodge impacts the lives of people fighting cancer thanks to people like you!

Now, an anonymous donor has issued a $100,000 match challenge to help Pan Ohio raise even more. The donor will contribute a dollar directly to the Cleveland Hope Lodge for every dollar the Hope Ride raises in April 2024.

You can double your donation impact by donating today at pohr.org!

For those who don’t know, the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge program provides free accommodations to cancer patients and their caregivers when they must travel far from home for lifesaving treatment. The money saved by Cleveland Hope Lodge guests through free stays as well as the catered meals provided once a week (or more) are only part of the equation. Activities that include music and dance recitals, game nights, and arts and crafts build community and support mental and emotional wellness, which can improve outcomes and quality of life.
